A tuk tuk is the easiest way to see Lisbon’s seven hills without climbing them. In two hours you can roll through Alfama, stop at three or four miradouros (viewpoints), glide down to the river and, if you have time, carry on to Belém. Tuk Tuk Lisbon Guide compares the tours that you can actually book — private or shared, electric or classic, 1 hour or half a day — so you can choose the right one in a few minutes.

What changed in 2025: tuk tuks and Lisbon’s new rules
Since 1 April 2025, tuk tuks may no longer drive on 337 streets in seven central parishes, including most of Alfama and Mouraria, and can only stop in designated places. Tours still run — they simply follow authorised roads to the viewpoints and sometimes add a short walk through the narrowest lanes. We explain what this means for your tour in our practical guide to tuk tuks in Lisbon.
Why trust this guide?
We are independent: we don’t own tuk tuks and no operator pays to be ranked. We compare what is really bookable, check prices, durations, routes and the city’s traffic rules every month, and say clearly when a « city tour » is really a quick loop. When you book through our links we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you — that is what keeps the guide free.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a tuk tuk tour in Lisbon?
Expect roughly €50–80 for a private 1-hour ride, €80–130 for 1.5–2 hours and €180–250 for a half day — prices are usually per tuk tuk, shared by up to 4–6 passengers. Food tours and some Belém tours are priced per person.
Are tuk tuk tours in Lisbon worth it?
Yes, if you have little time or don’t want to climb Lisbon’s steep hills: in two hours you see viewpoints and neighbourhoods that would take most of a day on foot, with commentary from a local driver.
Are tuk tuks banned in Lisbon?
No. Since April 2025 they are banned from 337 streets in the historic centre and can only stop at designated spots, but licensed tours still operate on authorised routes.
Where do tuk tuk tours start?
Most private tours pick you up at your hotel, apartment or the cruise terminal. Street tuk tuks wait at authorised stops around Baixa, Praça do Comércio and Belém.
